OMNI-STAT® Hemostatic Granules can be used on a broad variety of wounds as they conform well to irregular wounds and help seek the source of bleeding. They are ideal for areas that are difficult to suture such as lacerations, venous leg ulcers and skin tears on elderly patients with thin skin (Snyder and Sigal, 2013).

OMNI-STAT® Hemostatic Gauze which is coated on both sides with granules can be used on a broad variety of wounds. This format allows easy application and removal.

Emergency Room

Emergency physicians face the unique challenge of treating a diverse patient population whose individual care requires a vast breadth of knowledge across the spectrum of emergency medicine.

The specific wounds vary considerably as do the patient characteristics with many patients using anti-coagulant drugs. For patients presenting with bleeding wounds, the variety of presentations and varying degrees of severity offers numerous challenges in terms of achieving hemostasis.

OMNI-STAT® is a topical temporary external hemostat that helps rapidly and safely stop bleeding. It is effective for patients using common anti-coagulant drugs (Millner, 2010, Koksal, 2011 & Data on file). Rapid hemostasis may allow for shorter patient length of stay and better management of valuable staff resources by reducing blood loss and any associated risks.

Operating Room

The operating room involves a team of highly skilled clinicians where every minute counts in helping patients undergoing surgery. Controlling bleeding in a quick and efficient manner helps minimise blood loss and allows more efficient utilisation of valuable operating room time. A commonly encountered wound requiring a fast acting hemostat within the operating room is a post sharps debridement wound.
